Attack Roll
An Attack Roll is a die roll used to determine if an attack or spell hits its target.
An Attack Roll is resolved using percentile dice.
The base chance to hit with any attack is determined by your Hit Chance. By default, this is 100%. This can be modified by:
- Weapon attributes
- Class abilities
- Magic items
- Enchantments
- Gems
- Battlefield conditions
- Temporary magical effects
- Etc...
- Critical Hits
Every attack roll has a chance to critically hit. See Critical Hits for more information.
- No-roll Scenario
For any attack roll with a chance of 100% or greater, you need not roll. You may assume a hit.
- Avoidance
If the subject has a chance to avoid the attack, such as from Dodge or Parry, it is rolled separately, after determining if the attack hits at all.
If the attack roll is successful, but the attack is subsequently avoided, the attack does not actually hit.
- Bypassing Avoidance
For each percentage point beyond 100%, you gain the ability to ignore 1% of the target's avoidance.
For example:
- You attack a monster.
- You have a hit chance of 105%.
- The monster has a Dodge rating of 20%.
- Against your attack, the monster's effective Dodge rating is only 15%.
